Taking Root
In 2020 I was invited by the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia to be an Artist In Residence during their March Arts festival. While unfortunately the interactive component of the residency was cancelled due to COVID, the final artwork, a short film, was completed.
Taking Root is based off the artwork 'Flower Power' by Kica Saar, where hospital patients made felt flowers and insects which were sewn into a large quilt that is on display in RPA. I photographed the felt artworks and wrote a story inspired by the concept of a patient entering the garden world of the felt flowers and insects. Taking Root is this story come to life.
